Supporting a Safe, Respectful

and Inclusive School Community

At Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf, every student deserves to learn in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment. We are committed to fostering a school community where Deaf and hard-of-hearing students feel valued, respected, and protected from bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and other behaviors that interfere with their education and well-being.

What Is DASA?

The New York State Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), also known as the Dignity Act, was established to help provide students with a safe and supportive educational environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying.

DASA addresses conduct that occurs on school property, on a school bus, and at school functions. At Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf, creating a safe and respectful learning environment is an important part of our commitment to supporting every student’s ability to learn, communicate, grow, and thrive.

Report a DASA Concern

If you are a student, parent, guardian, staff member, or member of the school community and have a concern involving bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination, we encourage you to report the concern so it can be appropriately reviewed.
