Initial Inquiry

The process begins with a phone call from a parent, school district, provider, or hospital to learn more about Mill Neck. During this call, we answer questions, explain our programs, and determine whether scheduling a tour is the next step.

Campus Tour

Families meet with our Admissions Coordinator for a personalized tour of the school, typically lasting about one hour. We focus on classrooms and services that would support your child’s needs. Families are asked to bring an unaided audiogram or ABR dated within the last year. During the visit, we also review the intake packet and next steps.

State Approval & Documentation

If you choose to move forward, the New York State Education Department PHC-10 form is completed to begin the placement process. Once initial approval is received from the State Education Department, an intake is scheduled.

Intake & Evaluation

The intake process includes a virtual parent meeting and 1–2 days for your child to visit the school for classroom observation and meetings with related service providers. The intake team may include administration, teachers, therapists, and support staff as appropriate. Additional evaluations may be completed if needed to determine appropriate placement.

Admissions Timeline

From tour to placement, the admissions process typically takes approximately 2–3 months,
depending on the timing of required approvals and evaluations. Our team works closely with
